Zoho Desk rarely shows up alone. It's one module in the much larger Zoho ecosystem (CRM, books, projects, dozens of other apps) and it's genuinely appealing if you're already living in that world or planning to. If you're not, you're evaluating a piece of a platform built to sell you the rest of the platform.
Ravine Desk doesn't have a sister product line to fit you into. It's one tool that does client support, priced and built for a shop that isn't shopping for a whole business suite.
Zoho Desk makes the most sense for a business already using or planning to use other Zoho products, where the integration between them is the actual selling point. On its own, its interface and setup carry more configuration surface than a solo operator or a two-person shop typically needs for straightforward ticket handling. Ravine Desk is built to be the whole tool, set up in minutes, with nothing else to connect it to.
| Feature | Ravine Desk | Zoho Desk |
|---|---|---|
| Client portal | Included on every plan, branded subdomain | Available, configuration depth increases with tier |
| Email-to-ticket | Included on every plan | Included on every plan |
| Billable hours tracking | Built in, rolls into per-client reports | Not native to Desk; time tracking generally lives in a separate Zoho app |
| AI assistant / triage | Included on every plan; deeper triage on Team & Pro | AI features (Zia) concentrated on higher tiers |
| Agent-seat / API access | Agent Seats: bearer-token REST API for AI agents, early-access add-on | REST API included, aimed at integrating with the broader Zoho suite |
| Pricing model | Flat monthly price per workspace | Per-agent per-month across four paid tiers plus a very limited free edition |
Zoho's pricing page (zoho.com/desk/pricing.html) serves region-specific currency by default and we couldn't confirm a firm USD number for each tier, so we won't guess at one here. What's clear from the page: four paid tiers (Express, Standard, Professional, Enterprise) priced per agent per month, billed annually for the listed rate with a meaningfully higher monthly-billing price, an annual discount described as up to 34%, and a free edition capped at a handful of users with limited features. Live chat, telephony, and Zia AI are reserved for the middle and top tiers. If you need the exact current USD price, check the page directly with your billing region set.
Ravine Desk's pricing is public and flat regardless of region or agent count: Solo at $15/mo (founding price $12/mo), Duo at $39/mo (founding price $29/mo), Team at $89/mo (founding price $59/mo), and Pro at $179/mo (founding price $99/mo), with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required.
You're already running your business on Zoho's other apps, or planning to, and the value is in the CRM/Books/Desk integration rather than the help desk in isolation. At that point Desk's role in a larger suite is a legitimate reason to pick it over a standalone tool.
You want client support handled well without adopting an entire company's worth of software around it, and you want billable hours tracked without hunting for the right module in a different app.
